George W. Hill Correctional Facility


The George W. Hill Correctional Facility, formerly called Broadmeadows and then Delaware County Prison (Official County Web Page), is located on Cheyney Road in Thornton, PA. The Thresholds program has been operating in this prison for over 35 years. The prison is governed by a Prison Board, which is appointed by the Delaware County Council. It is a minimum security facility currently housing over 1900 men, women and juveniles. It is managed by the Community Educations Centers, Inc.

Thresholds volunteers can meet with inmates at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility during daytime, and some evening hours. To begin working with a Thresholds client at this facility, volunteers should contact the Thresholds office at 484-301-0390 for information about the next volunteer training. Security clearance is required to volunteer at this facility.

Directions

The George W. Hill Correctional Facility (Delaware County Prison) is located on Cheyney Road in Thornton, just north of Route 1.

From Route 476 (the Blue Route), take Exit 3. Head south on Route 1 towards Media. You will travel on Route 1 for several miles, passing the Granite Run Mall, Route 452 and the Franklin Mint.

You will eventually come to a stoplight at Cheyney Road. Make a right turn onto Cheyney Road. The prison is about three blocks up the road on your left side.

Turn into the prison drive and check in with the front gate.
